Is a Podiatrist the right person to see for my problem?
A podiatrist is a registered, qualified health professional who specialises in assessing, diagnosing and treating all disorders of the foot and ankle. This can include anything from foot pain, nail disorders, diabetic foot problems, to name but a few. Podiatrists can also effectively treat other conditions such as shin splints (pain in the lower leg) for example.

Do I need a referral to see a Podiatrist?
No, a referral is not required to see a Podiatrist, however Medicare EPC or Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) patients will require a referral from their GP for there consult to be Bulk-Billed.

Do you offer weekend & after hours appointments?
Yes. We are open Saturday and do offer evening appointments available during the week. Please contact the clinic for further details.

Can I get a rebate from my private health insurance?
Easystep and Glenroy Podiatry offers HICAPS facilities which allows convenient on-the-spot health fund rebates for patients insured with eligible health funds. We advise patients to contact their health fund for further information regarding rebates.
It is a requirement that fees are paid at the time of your consultation.

What should I bring to my appointment?
Where possible it is helpful to see the footwear that you wear the majority of the time (i.e. work boots, office footwear etc.). Also bring along any x-rays or other scans that you may have as well as a referral letter if you were sent by another health professional.

Do Easystep and Glenroy Podiatry sterilise instruments?
Yes! All instruments at Easystep and Glenroy Podiatry are cleaned, packaged & sterilised in an autoclave for each and every patient in accordance with infection control guidelines from the Australasian Podiatry Council. In addition, all podiatrists are fully qualified, registered and insured.

Does Eaystep and Glenroy Podiatry offer home visits?
Yes we do. As we are aware some patients have issues getting to our clinics, we are able to offer some home visit consultations through the week. Please contact us for more information.

A child has flat feet – should they see a Podiatrist?
It is quite commong for Young children to have “flat feet”, however if there is some parental concerns an assessment by a Podiatrist is re commended. Other criteria that would warrant further assessment would be; a complaining of foot/leg pain on a regular basis, reluctance to particpate in activity, tripping or falling over more than their peers and structural deformities

What are foot orthoses? are there different types?
A foot orthotic is a support that are placed in shoes. Foot orthotic's can be made from a different materials and may be made from a cast, 3D scan of a person’s feet (custom-made), may be prefrabricated (off the shelf) or made to the measurment of the foot (Semi-custom). The cost involved will vary depending on what needs to be done but may be covered in part by a patient’s Private Health Insurance. Medicare does not cover Orthotic's.
